| dc.description | Se presenta un caso de vólvulo de colon transverso (VCT) en una niña de 13 años con antecedentes de retardo mental severo y epilepsia, bajo medicación con fenobarbital y lorazepan. Aunque causa muy poco frecuente de obstrucción intestinal, el VCT debe sospecharse en pacientes con signos y síntomas de obstrucción intestinal baja, y antecedentes de constipación crónica y retardo o trastornos mentales. La resección y anastomosis primaria puede ser el tratamiento definitivo. | - |

Although a rare cause, transverse colon volvulus should be suspected in a patient presenting with distal bowel obstruction and history of chronic constipation and/or mental deficits.
